WebIf you dig downwards the game will create a down-stair at the top-most tile. To access the tile above it to create a stairway further up you would need an up-down stair instead of the downstair. To do that in the previous version you could simply build a construction up-down stair to replace the dug out down-stair.

This depends on how you built the stairs. If you designated them and a miner constructed them, you can designate the stairs with "Remove Up Stairs/Ramps" d - z.
